ANNIES SONG

John Denver

Released in 1974, John Denver wrote this beautiful love song going up a chair lift in a Ski Resort. Inspired by the beauty and magnificence of the mountains surrounding him that ‘filled his senses’, he felt compelled to pen the song for his wife at the time, Annie Martel. The marriage of Annie & John didn’t last, but the song lives on forever. John has one of the strongest natural vibrato’s you’ll ever hear. He merely has to open his mouth and it comes pouring out on every note. What a gift!

TIP: This song has become a wedding standard as it is an expression of love that many people can relate to. Although it’s called Annie’s Song, her name is never mentioned in the lyrics.

Sadly, John passed away in 1997. R.I.P. John. Thank you for your wonderful contribution to music and your great legacy that the whole world gets to enjoy forevermore.

Annie’s Song

John Denver

You fill up my senses, like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses, come fill me again

Come let me love you, let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you
Come let me love you, come love me again

INSTRUMENTAL

Mmm…
Let me give my life to you, come let me love you
Come love me again

You fill up my senses, like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert… like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses, come fill me again…
