This very laid back/ chill song was released in 1994 by English group Roachford. It makes for a very cruisy addition to your first or second set. Led by Andrew Roachford, who received an MBE in 2019 for services to music, his soulful voice is a tonic to the ears. The band scored a few big hits in the 1990s. Andrew was also a member of Mike & The Mechanics.
Lay Your Love on Me
Roachford
Talk about life and we talk about love
It gets to the point where the words ain’t enough
There isn’t a reason why this should be wrong
Open your heart and I’ll play you a song
Come on, come on, lay your love on me
Come on, come on, lay you love on me
Baby don’t you know sometimes you’ve gotta let yourself be free
Don’t you know it’s your right, to be who you wanna be
And don’t you know there’s a whole world out there, waiting for us to see
And don’t you feel sometimes you’ve gotta let be what’s gotta be
All I’m saying to you is…
Come on, come on, lay your love on me
Come on, come on, lay you love on me
There isn’t a reason why this should be wrong
Open your heart and I’ll play you a song… yes I will
Come on, come on, lay your love on me
Come on, come on, lay you love on me, yeah…
Come on now, come on now
Come on now, you’ve got to come on n-now
Come on now, come on now, come on now with me… yeah yeah
Come on, come on, lay your love on me
I’m getting tired of asking you baby (come on, come on)
Talk about life and love, lay it all on me (talk about life and love, lay your love on me)
Come on, come on… lay you love on me, yeah…
Talk about life and love, lay it all on me (talk about life and love, lay your love on me)
Oh… come on… come on (come and give it to me baby), come on
Come on… come on (come and give it to me baby), come on…
