One of the most important and influential blues men in recent memory, Stevie Ray Vaughan, often referred to simply as SRV (which is featured on his guitar pick guard) hails from Texas, USA. SRV set the music world on it’s head with the release of this song in 1984. The song (and backing track) is played in the original key of Am but in the live video below, the actual key is Abm. Even though SRV is seen to be playing it in Am (on the 5th fret), he is detuned 1 semitone as is common with touring musicians in order to preserve their singing voice with the constant gigging. So sit back, and soak up this smoking hot band and enjoy! And buy the full backing track to practice it yourself at home or at live gigs.
Cold Shot
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Once was a sweet thing, baby
Held that love in our hands
But now I reach to kiss your lips
It just don’t mean a thing
And that’s a cold shot, baby
Yeah that’s a drag
A cold shot, baby
I’ve let our love go bad
Remember the way that you loved me
Do anything I say
Now I see you out somewhere
You won’t give me the time of day
And that’s a cold shot, oh
Yeah that’s a drag
That’s a cold shot, baby
We’d better learn from that
I really meant I was sorry
For ever causing you pain
You showed your appreciation
By walking out anyway
And that’s a cold shot, baby
Yeah that’s a drag
That’s a cold shot, baby
We’d better learn from that
So sad, too bad, so sad
Don’t let our true love run cold
